2021 Ford F-250 vs Nissan Titan XD

The 2021 Ford F-250 Super Duty is available in six trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited; and ranges from a stripped-out work truck to a luxury cruiser. There are three cab configurations with all trims; except the King Ranch is configured as a regular cab, an extended cab, or a crew cab, and either a 6.8- or 8.2-foot bed length. The Ford-250 features a sharp design and a practical layout, with straightforward controls and cabin materials that can handle the mess. Each trim offers more features, with the base trim offering air conditioning, vinyl upholstery, manual windows, and a rearview camera. Higher level trims offer features such as, a panoramic sunroof, a two-tone leather interior; and upscale options that include ambient lighting, heated and cooled front seats, massaging seats, and wireless charging.

The 2021 Nissan Titan XD is a full-size pickup truck with five available trim levels: S, SV, Pro-4X, SL and a luxury-oriented, Platinum Reserve. All come in a single crew-cab configuration with a 6.5-foot bed. It features an expansive cabin that gives passengers plenty of room to spread out along the way, a lockable tailgate, sliding rear window, and spray-in bedliner. The SV adds front tow hooks, heated power-adjustable towing mirrors, and a gooseneck hitch. The SV convenience package includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front bucket seats with power driver’s seat, side steps, and power-sliding rear window. Other packages include ventilated front seats, heated front and rear seats, power-adjustable front passenger seat, and leather upholstery.

The basic work Ford F-250 truck offers a four-speaker audio system and 4.2-inch infotainment screen and gauge cluster display. Higher models offer an easy-to-use Sync 3 infotainment system, with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It also can be upgraded with a 11-speaker B&O stereo and SiriusXM satellite radio. Standard on the basic XL is a rearview camera, and a telescoping tow mirror. Available driver-assist technology includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, front automatic emergency braking, trailer sway control, and a 360-degree view camera system. All Nissan XD trims come with an 8-inch touchscreen and an available 9-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and a six-speaker audio system. Navigation and a Wi-Fi hot spot are available. It also comes with a suite of standard safety features that include, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitor, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and trailer sway control. The SV adds a trailer brake controller and adaptive cruise control, and the Pro-4X adds hill descent control and an available visual trailer check function. A surround-view camera system is also available.

Depending on the configuration of the F-250 super Duty, it will be available with three powertrains: a 6.2-liter V8 with 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, a 7.3-liter with 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, and a 6.7-liter turbocharged-diesel V8 with 475 horsepower and 1050 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission is paired with the latter two engines and a six-speed automatic transmission is paired with the 6.2-liter engine. Crew cab models with 4WD and the 6.2-liter can tow 12,500 pounds and Regular cab models with RWD and the diesel engine can pull 15,200 pounds. For gooseneck or fifth-wheel towing, capacity ranges from 12,500 pounds in crew cab, 4WD, 6.2-liter gas V-8 models, to 22,800 pounds in regular cab, RWD, diesel V-8 models. Payload reaches a maximum 4,260 pounds when properly equipped. A Tremor Package bundles popular off-road equipment to let the F-250 cover tough terrain. Pricing starts at $37,955 for the XL trim and ranges to $88,055 for the top-of-the-line Limited edition.

The Titan XD features a 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine with 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. The Titan XD rides comfortably and is pleasantly smooth and composed on winding roads. It can handle towing up to 11,040 pounds and 10,880 when pulling a conventional trailer. It’s maximum payload rating reaches 2,240 pounds. Pricing starts at $47,680 for the S trim and ranges to $68,610 for the Platinum Reserve.
